Misson Editor Tutorials 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago

I was messing Pickle map in the editor (looking for some nice spots - things like that) and I remembered the time when I used to create my own maps and mods for other games. I was like: "hmm there I would place some bushes, there a wall, there.."
but then I stopped, and realized I'm not able to. very frustrating.
So I think it would be nice to put some tutorials on this site (I know there are already some nice ones over the internet, but it would be good to have them also here) so more people could help improving the maps, or at least hear what a "famous mapper"
(yeah I'm talkin about you guys) thinks about their idea.
For examle, I'd like to put a ladder to the gas station roof, which seems already set up for fights (sandbags, barbed wire) in SFPickle. If Contrails agrees, I'll be happy to try realizing my ideas on his map, but I need to know how to make them.
Hope no one gets p*ssed about this.

Well, here I am, anonymous all right. With guys nobody really cares about. They come from the end of the line, most of 'em. Small towns you never heard of: Pulaski, Tennessee; Brandon, Mississippi; Pork Van, Utah; Wampum, Pennsylvania. Two years' high school's about it, maybe if they're lucky a job waiting for them back at a factory, but most of 'em got nothing. They're poor, they're the unwanted, yet they're fighting for our society and our freedom. It's weird, isn't it? They're the bottom of the barrel and they know it. Maybe that's why they call themselves grunts, cause a grunt can take it, can take anything. They're the best I've ever seen, Grandma. The heart & soul. - Platoon

After some tries, here's what I made:
I've "copied and pasted" the Ladder Volume and the Autoladder (no idea what that is) from another ladder in the map - simply moved here - but obviously it's not working.

Some of this stuff might be a bit too in-depth (haven't read them much myself....I just skim over the stuff and pick out what I think I want) but they're good reference materials nonetheless:
America's Army Mission Editor Manual & Tutorials
forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=243399
Dusk Tutorial
manual.americasarmy.com/index.php/Dusk_Tutorial
America's Army Forums: General Mission Editing
forum.americasarmy.com/viewforum.php?f=85
Having tweaked a few maps (i.e., the "SFFloodgateCoop_Z01" map, etc.), I know what you're going through. All I can say is just keep poking away in the editor and see what happens.
Hope the links help a bit, SnakeFest.

Here's a mission editing I frequent:
thelogick.game-host.org/maappers/index.php
It's died down a little bit, but there are a few regulars (myself included ) who will help with questions... the tutorials section is mostly links, but there are a couple more specific things.
The mission editor links are great resources - especially the Border and Dusk tuts are great as starting points, explaining the most important things I found when I was learning that I could get alot of answers in that general mission editing forums (just do a search - it dates back several years, lots of good stuff in there)... but if you ever get stuck don't hesitate to ask
BTW, an autoladder is just a ladder that's been automatically placed - when making a ladder you put a ladder volume around the static mesh itself and mess with the properties in there, when you build (the row of buttons on the top right - the blue-green box with the light is build all, builds everything for you) the editor places those two actors (marking bottom and top) automatically for you... sounds like you haven't rebuilt (it takes a while to build... if you just want to mess with the ladder press the gray one to the left of build all - thats only paths and you won't have to wait through the other stuff)
And sure, go ahead with my map always nice to see new mappers

I'm stuck. I've read and watched a lot of tutorials.. in few words I must:
- place the Static Mesh of the ladder OK
- create a Ladder Voume/copy it from another ladder KINDA(but big waste of time placing it right to include the ladder and don't know if it's actually right)
- create a Blocking Volume behind the ladder (waste of time and bla bla as before) KINDA
- Press the Build button to create the Autoladder OK
Missing someting?
